Pebbles On Your Floor

My first reaction was "OUCH!" when looking at the picture above, but I later came to find out that those oversized pebbles were actually soft and comfortable. Stephanie Marin is the designer behind this high-spirited idea that anyone of any age would enjoy.
The pebbles come in different shapes and sizes depending on what kind of aura you're trying to set. It's fun and restful! I mainly like it because it's nature related which simply gives off a tranquil feel.

Great Find: Graphic Designer, Mashal Irfan

I recently discovered that I'm working with an exceedingly talented graphic designer! Mashal Irfan is a fresh Graphic Design graduate who's currently working in the same Interior Architecture company as I am and of course, me being utterly nosy, I asked to see some of her work, which I'm glad I did because I was amazed at how imaginative her designs were.
I think what makes it more intriguing (for me) is the fact that I personally know someone who's proficient with such individuality. There's nothing better than associating yourself with visionary people, who like to think outside the box and take art to another level.

I've attached my favorites and asked her to explain in writing, her inspiration behind each poster.

UAE Interiors Exhibition May 2011

I recently attended the interiors exhibition that was held in Abu Dhabi last week and it turned out to be highly beneficial as I was introduced to many innovative designs. For the most part the exhibition consisted of international companies, some of which had an objective of finding a representative in the Middle East (mainly in the UAE) that they took this opportunity to expose their products to the locals, also used it to gain an idea on how the local react to new and different forms of design.
I also had the privilege of talking directly to some of the designers that I particularly liked, I find myself a lot more drawn into the artwork when the master behind the creation takes you through the journey of how and why it was produced.
I personally was in awe of all the bespoke pieces that were beautifully and carefully hand-made.
I've attached my favorites:

Kurkum Restaurant, Mattrah, Oman

This fancy Indian cuisine is located just by Souq Mattrah and the corniche. Frankly, I was quite surprised when I walked in as I never expected to see something so chic and contemporary in a busy area. We were greeted by friendly staff and picked the perfect spot for our lunch meal. The main attraction for me would have to be that the entire space was virtually white with colored abstract paintings hung on the wall by Sri Lankan artist Roshini, as well as the beautiful sculptures by Marco Polo (The art displayed is changed every now and then).
The menu looked delectable, that it didn't stop us from eating two hours before our regular lunch break (11am to be specific) we enjoyed every second of our meal and were definitely full afterwards! I recommend that everyone gives it a shot. I would also suggest going during the day, as the natural sunlight through the windows maximizes the space and offers more of a serenity feel.

I'm Moving In

This duplex penthouse located in Vasatan, Sweden just exudes class and comfort, with it's staggering six foot high ceilings, open spaces and a keyed lift it seems to be the ideal space for someone like myself. I love that there's plenty of white with a hint of vibrant colors, it only makes the space more welcoming and attractive.

I'm packing my bags already!

Add A Finger To Your Nose

British designer Dominic Wilcox recently generated a very interesting accessory, especially for those who like to use their touch screen gadgets in the bath. It is called a 'Finger-nose Stylus', the implement is inserted in fibrous plaster. All you have to do is wrap it around your head and the device will operate just by moving your nose.

So for the male readers, you can now finally say you are able to multi-task.

Jars of Light

This is not something you would find in your kitchen cabinet or fridge!

The marmalade jelly inspired lamp is designed by Semiki Studio. It consists of stained gel with LED lighting absorbed in it. The best thing about it is that it looks like a regular jar of jam up until you turn it upside down, where the colored light in the jar is then dispersed. Also, the bubbles within the gel add more effect to the luminescence, giving it a better radiance in any dark room.

Even after knowing all that, I'd still make an attempt to dip my finger in and taste it. It just looks too flavorful to be left alone.

Pencil Shaving Necklace

Who would've thought what you would normally throw in the trash could end up around your neck?

I've always loved the way my pencil shavings would look and now, thanks to designer Victoria Mason, the pencil shaving can not only be kept but can be worn as well :) The item is available in five different colors, and I have to say that the green one is my favorite. This could be such a cute gift for my nieces or anyone else who admires and appreciates art.

Take A Walk Into Ralph Lauren's Garage

Check out American fashion designer Ralph Lauren's classic car collection. Those sexy rides will be exhibited at the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris this summer.

“As it turns out, I don't really want to be seen in the cars. There's a part of me that likes the privacy, so the more garish the car, the less I want to drive it." -Ralph Lauren

Well clearly the keys to the cars are in the wrong hands. Hand them over mister, I'll know what to do with them.
