Console Crush

A console is definitely a piece of furniture you would want to invest in because it could be the only product in the room that could make a difference. Normally consoles are situated against a wall in a hallway, or in any empty space that is in desperate need to be occupied. And they're more of a decorative piece that don't exactly serve a particular purpose; therefore you can get pretty innovative with the design. Nevertheless, it should also complement the rest of your furniture items.

I'm currently on the hunt for a lavish console and found quite a few that caught my attention.

nLoves: The Lisa Jarvis Bagua Table

{Hexagon with a 'twist'} by 'n dot interiors'

Introducing to you my very first piece of my own furniture collection: Hexagon with a 'twist'. When I first decided to get into this, I had no idea what it was that I wanted, or what I was drawn to at the time, I just knew I wanted it to be different and most of all creative. After so many rough sketches, I then realized I wanted to incorporate something traditional into something fresh, I also noticed that I was repetetive with geometric shapes and patterns, especially hexagons, therefore I decided to concentrate on that particular shape and work on how to develop my designs further to produce something beautiful.
The Hexganon with a ' twist' can function both as a stool and a side table and can also be available in different colors! I have to admit that this is by far the best piece I have ever designed, I am so happy with it and received many good feedback which only motivates me to move on to the next one.

'n dot interiors' at the China Furniture Expo 2012

Nehaaoooo!

So I just attended the furniture expo in Shanghai which was the 18th international exhibition in China and probably the most awe-inspiring experiences in my life so far. The city was absolutely invigorating and the people were warm-hearted and full of life!

Participating in the exhibition resulted in me feeling extra motivated and a lot more inspired to reach my goals, I am so glad as everything I came across made a strong and vivid impression that I cannot wait to convey through my own designs. I managed to meet some of the designers and have them talk me through their work which was great, however, the ones that were not present were the ones I desperately wanted to meet so that was pretty unfortunate.

Kashida

I am a huge fan of typography and calligraphy, I took a really short course on Graphic Design during my BTEC and I always looked to Carson for inspiration, so when I came across those gorgeous pieces I knew I had to include it in my blog.
Lebanese designers Abou Jamara and Hamdy co-founded Kashida, they both have a passion for Arabic writing and after working on so many conceptual sketches they finally managed to come up with a way on how to combine Arabic calligraphy with fucntional furniture. I love the clean lines and how it produces an aura of modernity with a slight twist.

The Big Chair Project

The Big Chair Project is all about raising money to contribute to Jamie Oliver's apprentice program, the 15th one might I add. It pretty much involves designers such as Tracey Emin, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith and Quentin Blake, creating an innovative piece of design that is food related, using the iconic chairs Fritz Hansen has provided for them. The chairs will later on be auctioned and the money will fall into Jamie Oliver's Better Food Foundation basket.
Sounds like something I would most definitely enjoy doing!

Bedside Tables

As you all know, I love anything and everything original. Who wants to buy something off-the-peg when you can create your own design? Even if it's just that one little detail that seperates it from the rest, it's still UNIQUE and very much your own. And that's why I got these beautiful bedside tables custom made for my sister. I simply love them and so does she!

Home Office

Modern-French is how I would describe my taste, at least for my brand new home office :) my new favorite place at the moment; my design cave!

Bokja Design

At the present time I am preoccupied with Arabic culture through design and I recently stumbled upon Bokja Design, a token of "respect and love for an age-old culture and aesthetic with human approach". The concept was developed by two Lebanese women Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hibri who are both passionate about antique furniture and textiles.  The idea in some of those sole pieces is the use of old cultural materials with the current style, where East meets West, illustrating sustainability and craftsmanship. That Speck of Leopard

I am pretty sure that we are all aware of the jungle making its way onto the fashion runways; primarily leopard prints that everyone at the present time is loving and are seen almost everywhere. As for me, I am now obsessing over leopard print furniture! I love the idea of how just a little bit of leopard can do a lot to your space. I posted some of my favorite images on how you can add that sassy touch to your home no matter what your style is.

Dive Into That Cupcake

I was just browsing through Polyvore's gallery and noticed this oh so comfy looking sofa that goes by the name 'Cupcake', I mean the name says it all, don't you think? The dessert-inspired seating collection that also includes an armchair and a stool has been made known by German manufacturer Bretz, where the designers have customized the "Bowl hard, soft core" strategy. I am loving the plush cushions, it makes me want to just dive in for a relaxing time.
"CUPCAKE enchants smaller and bigger locations utilizing its sweet charm. Who sits down is caught as being the will for getting up is dispelled by pure relief."

Streetwalk

The city of Sunderland has now been provided with a collection of British designer Charlie Davidson's funky stools, made out of polymer based cement with colored quartz and marble aggregate. 
"This idea was a direct response to the brief which asked designers to draw pedestrians into the east side of town and the newly furbished Sunniside gardens from Sunderland city centre"
I really like the random positioning of the stools with the different colored lighting underneath, it integrates pretty well with the streets.

London Design Festival 2011

The London Design Festival is a yearly nine-day design event that was first organized in September 2003 to display different works of art and design of the people of the city. The programme consists of  installations, seminars and exhibitions, mostly free of charge permitting the visitors to take part and acquire products. There were over 250 events going on and I am only posting my favorites, starting with in my opinion, the best compared to the rest:

"Perspectives" at St.Paul's Cathedral generated by Sir Christopher Wren, where amazing architect John Pawson who collaborated with Swarovski Crystal Palace created an installation that was meant to reinforce Sir Christopher Wren's intention, that each and every one of his buildings need to embrace a scientific feature. Therefore Pawson designed  a colossal lens formed of metal and Swarovski crystal to allow the visitors to view the details beneath the spectacular staircase as you are looking down from the top, which emphasizes Pawson's huge appreciation for the masterpiece and that this sweet gesture is merely to take notice of Sir Christopher Wren's outstanding work.

Mirtillo Table

Check out this simple curvilinear piece of furniture called the "Mirtillo Table" by designer Nicola Lo. I like its unusual shape and it certainly is not a typical coffee table. Perfectly suitable for any contemporary home.

Cubico

Italian designer Alessandro Di Prisco created this funky geometric looking piece of furniture "Cubico" that has more than one function depending on how it is positioned! 
"Its design is produced by the subtractive process, progressively removing material from an accomplished figure, the cube, getting some voids, fissures in its linearity...It can certainly be a magazine rack, a coffee table, a stool or why not just a cube!”


Basic and functional is it not?

Google Desk

If you have an office and you are into the futuristic look, this is the desk for you! Designed by Danny Velvet, the sinuous advanced Google desk is the most exemplary piece of furniture I have seen so far. I'm really impressed by this design, especially the way the wood storage has been assimilated. I love the different color combinations and it is also available in various lacquer and matte finishes.

Superieur: TBL Table

Check out this gorgeous retro-modern looking coffee table by Superieur. Made out of fiberglass, the distinctive curvy shaped table demonstrates an advanced look, also attributable to the light that is captured and casted back.
The tinted top glass is gauzy enough to be able to view the clean-limbed space underneath it. Quality!

Chista: "The Monumental In The Everyday"

Chista is all about urbanized organic furniture, epitomizing the world of natural furnishings. Founded in 1990 the company examines "the roots of primitivism", they are known for generating the most striking unfinished contemporary pieces. Their collection also incorporates lighting and installations that can be found in national showrooms and New York's Tribeca. 

Jaw-Dropping French Vintage Chairs!

I utterly savor those beautiful French vintage chairs! Makes me want to acquire one at this very moment! The chairs are available at Jayson Home & Garden. Each chair has a different authentic finish and they have all been re-upholstered in collectable Belgian grain sack, isn't that just amazing? It gives off the worn-out look which makes it even more perfect.
