Celebrity Homes: John Legend and Chrissy Teigen

I'm sure we're all huge fans of John Legend, but let's talk a little about his other half Chrissy Teigen, who's known for being outspoken, funny and most importantly relatable. She just tells it how it is and that's why we love her. And yes, I am speaking on behalf of everyone here. After coming across images of what they call home, I felt like it would just be unfair to keep to myself. The tour is definitely worth sharing and you're just about to find out why. 

My favorite area would have to be the kitchen; mainly because of the gorgeous color and material combination. I love the dark cabinetry designed by Don Stewart, and even more so the exceptionally beautiful brass stools by Anna Karlin that instantly catch your eye! 

Ikea Hack: Console Table

Recently, I've been drawn into transforming affordable furniture into personalised pieces. And my very first experiment was with a laptop table that was purchased from IKEA not long ago. I initially wanted a custom console that would fit a certain area in our home, however, I eventually decided against it, mostly because the whole process was going to consume a lot of time, especially since I would have to sketch a design first! And as much as I would have loved to do that, I was running out of patience as that area was desperate to be occupied.

Console Crush

A console is definitely a piece of furniture you would want to invest in because it could be the only product in the room that could make a difference. Normally consoles are situated against a wall in a hallway, or in any empty space that is in desperate need to be occupied. And they're more of a decorative piece that don't exactly serve a particular purpose; therefore you can get pretty innovative with the design. Nevertheless, it should also complement the rest of your furniture items.

I'm currently on the hunt for a lavish console and found quite a few that caught my attention.

How To: Stuff A Duvet Cover

If there's one thing that frustrates me, it would be making the bed. Mostly because it involves stuffing the duvet cover. It's an exasperating experience every single time. You would think that I would learn to master the art given that I do it on a regular basis, but no. It just gets harder! I would pretty much need to get under the cover like a ghost to spread the duvet in its place to get it right. But it's all worth it in the end, because there's simply nothing better than sleeping in freshly laundered sheets.

Ikea's Little Secret

A post definitely worth blogging about, and I'm sure by the end of it, your jaw would drop just as hard as mine did. Figuratively speaking of course.
I'm quite the fan of Ikea's products and I'm constantly checking their website for anything new or suitable enough for our home. And I was shocked at their latest reveal on how they showcase their goods through their catalogue. Believe it or not, but the majority of their images are produced on a computer. Yes, a computer. They conclude that it works out better for them as it is a lot more cost effective and eco-friendly. What a strategy huh? But not to worry, as they reassured us that they try the best they can to imitate the actual product they are selling. How To: Hang Drapery

One of the huge common mistakes that are made (by quite a lot of people) is being completely unaware of how to dress their windows the way they deserve to be dressed. And it's really not that hard. You just need to follow the general rules that I'm about to share with you; and you'll notice the difference a few small adjustments can make to the entire space. After all, we can't deny that it's the drapery that really makes a room feel complete!

Here's an inspiration board I recently presented to a client, who is desperately looking to renovate their "beige" living room; and because they are on a tight budget, I included a few pieces from Ikea; like the Rattan side table that not only functions as a table, but also as storage! And we all know that it's something we simply cannot get enough of.

I am currently on the hunt for unique wallpaper and just recently stumbled upon Calico Wallpaper, in which I am very grateful for, as they are beyond sensational and by far the most innovative wallpaper I have come across as of yet!
The admiration mostly comes from their inspiration behind the designs; as they are produced by experimenting with different art forms after extensive research on the 'Arts of Suminagashi' (where paper marbling originates from) and with that, they managed to create a signature of their own. What makes it even more exceptional is the fact that the patterns presented are non repetitive.

We recently moved into a townhouse, and I realised that I never shared images of our previous two bedroom apartment that we lived in for just a year and 2 months. I have to admit that I was rather flustered in the beginning, as I put a lot of energy and effort into the space and was far from ready to let go. Although, the part that did not sit well with me at first was discovering that my favorite wallpaper throughout the apartment has been discontinued! That being said, we were desperate for a much larger space and I am more than happy that we decided to make the move.
My taste is somewhat eclectic, I am fan of mixing and matching different items and materials; at the same time preserving a specific flow. I also realised that I constantly gravitate towards neutral colors. Don't get me wrong, I love color too, but I prefer to have them in smaller doses.

Interiors by Malin

One of the greatest things about Instagram is that you stumble on different talented people, even when you are not looking for them! And my recent discovery is an interior design firm based in Dubai known as 'M Interior Design'. I have been following them for a while now that I when I see a certain looking post on my timeline I instantly know who it belongs to, which only goes to show that they have mastered a 'signature' look.

Attached below you will find images of a villa they had designed in Dubai. I love the way they have used a neutral palette all over the space, as it maintains a specific flow and emanates the feeling of tranquility. I also admire their thorough attention to detail in every corner; which in my personal opinion is what completes a room. Well done.

I am always on the lookout for inspirational images, and below you will find the most highly attractive office workspaces I have come across in the last few months as I was researching other rooms.

Just as much as we would love to have a stylish office, it is essential that it is also practical. You want to avoid purchasing a pretty desk or chair that is good to look at but unbearable to use, comfort is key here. Incorporating your personality and what inspires you is also something to consider, as you will be generating just the right environment that helps you focus and be productive. After all, that is the purpose of a workspace, right?

Working hours are over and it's FINALLY the weekend! Not that I have anything special planned for it, but I will definitely make sure it's a slothful one tomorrow; and as lazy as that makes me sound I desperately need it, especially after taking a look at the image below, tis the epitome of comfort. Celebrity Homes: Cameron Diaz

I have always envied the actress for her joyful personality, amazingly toned legs, endearing laugh and even more so now for her striking NYC apartment. I have to admit that I was slightly surprised when I was going through the images as I never really expected to find it as alluring as it is, only because I had the impression that she was more of a tomboy than a 'glitz and glam' kinda girl; although she did reveal that she has a soft spot for "shiny and sparkly things" due to her Cuban roots.

What captured most of my attention are the metallic pieces beautifully circulated within the space, exclusively the guest toilet! The combination of onyx and brass is undeniably captivating to the eyes, don't you think?

The entire space has an assortment of soft and dark hues, the living room is more of a neutral palette that emanates Hollywood serenity, whereas the kitchen produces a different kind of energy using the glorious emerald green for the cabinets and gold for the backsplash.

You have to acknowledge that it isn't easy combining two different palettes and making it work, thus, I solute the Queen of California design Kelly Wearstler, as always for managing to produce yet another gorgeous home.

Parisian Apartment

This lavish 2,600 square feet Parisian apartment was designed by Champeau and Wilde, and there is nothing better than merging the old with the new, especially when it is done in such a desirable way.
I appreciate the living room more than anything else; the distinction between the reinstated classical moldings on the wall and the metallic side table is genius, including the gallant wall art in the lobby. I always believe in assimilating at least one piece that is bold and contentious; it adds character.
The kitchen area has been remodelled to convey a refined mid century look; elusive in color and in flair; producing that 30's aura.
Lastly, the bathroom...I. Have. No. Words.

For The Love Of Adler

I’m not quite sure if any of you like me silently fantasize about your dream home, and have the burning desire to include a different and distinct theme running through each room. While I'm not sure what this one room will look like in my dream home, I sure do know how it will feel. This feeling can only be described as surrealism the 20th-century avant-garde movement. My desire for this one room is consumed by a inseparable marriage of dream and reality; defined by a lack of logic, theme and rules; where you need not justify colours, proportions and pattern! At the cost of sounding like a deranged bohemian, allow me to show you.

This one room for me can be best expressed through the repertoire of interior designer, author and foremost potter extraordinaire Mr Jonathan Adler, who’s aesthetics blend beauty and wit into his work of irreverent luxury. While Adler’s creative pursuits come from a rebellious streak to follow his heart. Despite the advice of his teacher who defined Adler’s work as ‘talentless’, he is able to perfectly draw upon his experiences to create a fantastically mismatched space that is truly liveable and often described as happy-chic.
