For The Love Of Adler

Post By: Eman Rafay
“I think every creative person, and every craftsperson, should have a naysayer to rebel against.” Jonathan Adler

I’m not quite sure if any of you like me silently fantasize about your dream home, and have the burning desire to include a different and distinct theme running through each room. While I'm not sure what this one room will look like in my dream home, I sure do know how it will feel. This feeling can only be described as surrealism the 20th-century avant-garde movement. My desire for this one room is consumed by a inseparable marriage of dream and reality; defined by a lack of logic, theme and rules; where you need not justify colours, proportions and pattern! At the cost of sounding like a deranged bohemian, allow me to show you.

This one room for me can be best expressed through the repertoire of interior designer, author and foremost potter extraordinaire Mr Jonathan Adler, who’s aesthetics blend beauty and wit into his work of irreverent luxury. While Adler’s creative pursuits come from a rebellious streak to follow his heart. Despite the advice of his teacher who defined Adler’s work as ‘talentless’, he is able to perfectly draw upon his experiences to create a fantastically mismatched space that is truly liveable and often described as happy-chic.

Here is a visual montage of his repertoire, enjoy:

Al-Qurum Residential, Oman by 'n dot interiors'

I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to design the interiors of one of the most endearing people I have come across. It initially started with a large sitting room that only consisted of a three seat sofa and ended with a few rooms full of inventiveness enthused by my client’s sparkling energy.

Tamara Mellon's Renovated Apartment

My very first 'Celebrity Homes' post was on Tamara Melon's NY apartment that was designed by the fabulous Martyn Lawrence Bullard. And I've only just come to find out that she recently had it renovated! I was somewhat nervous to see the new face-lift as I was abosultely enamoured by the former design. Although I have to say that the revamp still oozes the same kind of vitality, this time, in a much lighter sense. Interior designer Michael Adams assimilated beautiful mid century pieces and I especially adore the 'love for eternity' light installtion above the unquestionably, gorgeous Warren Platner dining set. Take a look at the new deal.

Guest Post: The Connecticut Home

Post By: Khulood Sultan.

Designer Joe Nahem maintained the classical bones of this two-storey house located in Connecticut, ensuring that the transition from the traditional exterior to the lively, modern new interior wouldn't be disconcerting.

Omani Artist: Usama Al Kindy

If you're a regualr reader than you already know my fascination with abstract art, a huge thank you goes out to a client of mine for shedding light to Omani Artist Usama Al Kindy; a discovery that I am positively willing to keep my eyes on. I love his use of vibrant colors, they exude so much inspiring energy and in my opinion, that's the best form of visual language!
